Blackwells - Hemerdon Mine features on The One Show

  • 10-11-2015

The Hemerdon tungsten mine in Devon, location of Blackwell's major mining services contract for client, Wolf Minerals, recently featured on BBC's The One Show - in an episode broadcast on the 14th of October.

The show saw journalist, Joe Crowley and 3 former tin miners witness the opencast mine in operation, which provides the 4th largest deposit of tungsten in the world and is expected to generate £1bn in revenue over the next 3 years. Blackwell's mining services contract on the site involves the excavation and haulage of 45 million tonnes of ore and waste rock over a 6 year period.

Blackwell's project at Hemerdon Mine is one of many mining and quarrying contracts currently being carried out by the company. Others include loading and haulage services at the Moorcroft limestone quarry in Devon, the Glensanda granite quarry in the Western Scottish Highlands and the Hindlow limestone quarry in Buxton.
